Does it surprise you that many teachers don't even bother to read their students' homework assignments?

We didn't think so.

But that still didn't prepare us to read about the family dispute that the teachers in the story below caused simply because they didn't pay enough attention to a student's assignments. This student lost his mom when he was 6 years old, and twice since then, his teachers confused his stepmom for his real mom. Once, when one teacher sent the stepmom the Mother's Day essay the student wrote for his late mom, and another when a second teacher did the same thing with a poem.

Two teachers who clearly didn't read the assignment before they sent it to the wrong mom. A mom, mind you, who for years has ignored her stepson's wishes to not address her as mom, and that has some sort of jealousy for the late mother. A "mom" who got very angry when she read her stepson's school assignments and realized they were not about her.

  • NaturesVividPictures NTA. All I can say is you have some teachers of that obviously don't read or understand what they're reading so they shouldn't be teachers. But they're the ones who cause the problems by inviting her to be there the witness you reading it the second time and sending it to her the first time. Yeah you didn't cause the issue of them being out in public and feeling the way they did. The only thing you did was write it you didn't purposely give it to them or share it with them

  • mimibelle1 Marjorie, I deeply apologise for the pain you suffered from the actions of the adults in my life when I was a child. You should never have been in that situation. I profoundly wish the adults had communicated our family dynamics better and taken the time to look at the works I produced before sending out erroneous invitations. It was very very painful for me as a 6 year old and as a 16 year old and I understand you were upset too
